New Room!

Yesterday was a BIG day for us. First of all, both Carter and Jackson got moved to "open air cribs." This means that they are not in the Isolette cribs anymore. This step is one of the few that is determined by weight. Adelaide is not quite big enough to be in open air (and truly maintaining her own temperature).

The second big event is that we moved! In our NICU there are 5 rooms. Luckily we were never in room 5 which is for the most serious cases. Addie and Jackson were in room 3 for a week, then all our babies were in room 4 for just under three weeks. As a baby progresses, the baby will move "closer to the door." Room 1 is the closest to the door. Carter got moved to room 1 last night. And to our surprise, Jackson and Adelaide got moved to room 1 this morning.

It is not uncommon for a baby to either skip room 2 or go straight home from rooms 1 or 2. They are very similar and who goes where often depends on space availability. We have been told that they do everything possible to keep multiples together. So now we have our own little corner of room 1.

While this is a really big step for our trio, we still have some milestones to meet. All three are learning to eat on their own but still getting some of their meals from their feeding tubes. So that is probably the biggest thing they have yet to accomplish. Overall, they are really doing great and continue to learn and grow. We are so proud of all three of them!
