Some of you may know and some of you may not know but Jackson will begin wearing a Doc Band next Friday. The band is worn to correct Plagiocephaly. This is a misshapen head that can be caused by a number of different things. It is common in multiples due to the cramped quarters they live in for the first part of their lives. Poor Jack must have been squished between Addie and Carter because he has a flat spot on the back right side of his head. He has the inverse flattening on the left temple. We have chosen to pursue treatment with the Doc Band for a number of reasons. But most importantly we want to prevent some future issues that can arise from his entire skull being shifted to one side (vision, dental etc).
Jack learned that the Doc Band is rather expensive...so he devised a plan to raise some money. Here is his disguise...
Jack's helmet will be ready next Friday so he will be rockin his new look shortly! In the picture above, Jack is getting a digital image of his head taken (the stocking cap helps streamline the photo). This procedure replaced the cumbersome molding process that used to be necessary to make a child's helmet. They estimate that he will only need to wear it for 3 months. So hopefully by their first birthday we will be helmet free.
