Summer Switch

This summer, like last summer, we are switching the kids up 3 weekends (not necessarily back to back).  The 12th was the first weekend for the switch.  Adelaide went to DeeDee and Poppy's house, Carter went to BeeBee and Papaw's house and Jack stayed with Paul and me. 

 

Carter was DESPERATE to play golf after Jack got to go.  So BeeBee picked him up and the joined Papaw out at the club for a few holes of golf and ate dinner.  He had SO much fun and his this love for the game that borders on obsessive.  Saturday the went swimming and while BeeBee was at a wedding that evening, Carter and Papaw went and watched the airplanes take off at the airport...I would NEVER have thought to do that with the kids but it was a huge hit!

Addie went to DeeDee's house.  Poppy was out of town until Saturday night so the girls got to spend some time together.  Her request was to do lots of "projects."  They talked about it all week (the kids went to VBS and my mom carted them around all week) and they decided on some crafts, painting and coloring.  She also helped make a pizza, went swimming and DeeDee introduced her to bubble baths.  It is amazing how interested in "art" this little girl is.  She takes tons of time on her projects where the boys approach it completely different (apathetically actually).  She colored a picture for a family friend who was in the hospital and when I reported back that the friend LOVED the picture and said she was a very good artist, Addie squealed with delight.  The next day she colored another picture for our friend.

As I write this I feel bad that they have never had a real bubble bath until now...

 

We had so much fun with Jack.  His week had been a little rough, but come to find out, he was just tired.  The boy slept 12 hours at night and took a 2-3 hour nap!  Friday night we asked him what he wanted for dinner and he wanted us to cook "piggy nuggets" (pork tenderloin) from Central Market.  He did not want to join me at the grocery store, he wanted to help Paul with the grill.  As a bonus, Paul's cousin Wes came by on his way out of town and joined us for dinner.  Jack and Wes have always had a connection so that was great!  On Saturday we took him to the museum then I took him to swim at a local pool.  For dinner he got to go on a "date" with Paul and me.

 That Sunday all the grandparents and kids met at our church for the end of VBS program.  We will do this again 2 more times, switching so each kid gets a weekend at each place.
