5 days old

The babies are 5 days old today. Some really great things have happened. First, Addie got her IV out and Carter is scheduled to get his out tonight. Second, Addie got moved into Carter's room and is his next door neighbor. It makes it a lot easier on us to see them now that they are so close. Third, and perhaps most exciting, Carter got his CPAP out! I may be announcing this a little premature because we are just shy of 24 hours. Hopefully he continues to tolerate breathing on his own through the night. Both still have feeding tubes and will for a while but we are so excited with their progress.

Now our little Jackson. He is still in his original room. He has CPAP, feeding tube, and IV. He has had some trouble keeping his feedings down and throws up a lot of it. He is a wiggle worm and does not want to be touched much. We have both changed a few diapers, and Jackson likes makes it a two person job (they also have a lot of monitors that get in the way). It is hard not to compare them, but we have to remember that every baby matures differently. Jackson is still doing really great for 31 weeks gestation.

I am home now, but really spend the majority of the day up at the NICU. I am starting to get to know everyone that works up there and have met a few other moms. It is hard to leave every day but they are in good hands. I am feeling pretty good all things considered. Thank you everyone for all your care and concern.
