Addie Update

Addie is doing really well. The x-rays of her belly have come back as improved over the last few days, so we are moving in the right direction. In order to help her comfort level and get optimal nutrients to her, the NICU doctors put in a PICC line. This is kind of like an internal IV that delivers the IV contents near her heart. This minor procedure happened today and was successful. The nurse said Addie didn't even cry! She is so tough. Now she just has to continue the antibiotics, get plenty of nutrients to grow, and get lots of rest.

The boys are doing great! Jackson surpassed the 3lb mark today. I held him and he is so silly, he does not sleep as much as the other two and just stares at me. Sometimes he makes silly faces at me too. Carter LOVES to sleep, he is so funny in his preemie clothes that are WAY too big. He does not even fill out the legs because he is not long enough to reach. He did leave me quite a gift during diaper change today, something to look forward to for a long time. Both boys have showed interest in sucking on their pacifiers so that is a good sign they are moving toward an interest in eating on their own. Below is a picture of Carter with his pacifier.

It is a little big for him, but he seems to handle it pretty well! Thank you to everyone who have prayed for all of us, specifically Addie. The doctor told me today that this sort of thing happens all the time in the NICU. She said it may seem like a major setback to us, but it is really common. It is just hard for mom and dad to think of our little girl in any distress whatsoever!
