Jackson Will

Today's featured child is Jackson Will. Jack is our middle child, he is two minutes younger than Addie and two minutes older than Carter. Sometimes I think that he is just perfect for the role. He has started to get really fussy at night and only sometimes calms down when I hold him (which is not always easy when you have two other babies to pay attention to). And by "fussy" I mean wailing and thrashing of the hands with real tears streaming down his face. Sometimes even being held will not do the trick, he is inconsolable.

Below is poor little Jack the day after he was born so tiny you could almost see through his skin on his stomach (look how pale I am compared to him, he had a touch of jaundice and maybe I was slightly anemic).

Jackson did well in the NICU once he was in there for a week or two. He had some breathing difficulties that made him the last one to make it to room 3. However, he was the first one the doctors talked about going home. Jack has gained the most weight out of all three babies. While Carter weighed more at birth, Jackson has surpassed him and is now longer as well. He also just rolled over for the first time on Wednesday! Guess he heard us talking so much about Carter that he wanted in on the action. This is the day we left the hospital.

We have a few nick names for Jackson. Of course there is "big Jack" since he is the biggest (which got really confusing when we visited Paul's papaw Jack...since technically papaw IS bigger). We also call him "Yackson" because in Spanish J's sound like Y's...you get the idea. Our house cleaner, Laura, coined him "Gordito" and that seemed to take hold pretty fast (that means cute little fat boy). And I will often refer to him as "handsome Jack."

Jack has incredible neck control and is always looking around. He seems so alert and really focuses on light. He has turned into quite the snuggle buddy! He really likes to do his tummy time on our tummy. Jack likes to play and is generally content during the day. During nap time he will stay in his crib, we will think he is asleep, but he is really just chillin and looking around. Jack used to have a decent amount of hair, but it is all falling out...SO cute! He really enjoys playing on the mat with is brother and sister and looking at the lights. He will grab and pull on the toys that hang down. He will also put his hand on whichever sibling is closest and put fingers in their mouths or ears or nose. We thought this picture was so funny, it looks like he is pretending to ride a motorcycle!
